Hi folks, well, its been a long time since I have updated my blog. I had to stop for a while as the power cable for my laptop snapped and I had a job tracking down an affordable replacement. Well I have been busy, had my dear friend Cora to stay and together we have produced some wonderful pictures, which will be posted soon, its amazing how you fall behind with things like this. I have missed posting. Well better get on with photographing my work and preparing my next post.

Art lesson update
This week we worked on flowers, but this week we studied the leaves and how to paint them, we also studied more brush techniques for painting flowers and leaves. I have also been working on the painting sketch that was done at Ramster gardens, I was fairly happy with how it came out but felt that personally I could do better, so I have re-painted it again, and I feel that it has turned out a lot better. I have also included the page of work I completed at art class this week. It was pointed out to me earlier in the week that the work I posted from my weekend of painting was out of focus. I have also now included the retakes of these 2 photo's. I did realise this after a while but I hope now you can enjoy them, in there in focus beauty.

Bank Holiday weekend
Wow, what a weekend, first I went back to Porchester castle with Dan and his friend, and I took the chance to paint a few little sketches, its a little windy but very mild. I also took a few photo's so I had a plenty of reference material. I was then taken out to a wonderful garden,
it was very called Ramster and the gardens took my breath away. Instead of being formal and stuffy this was a garden that was fun to explore, and the plants were breath taking. It did rain, but what is bank holiday weekend with out a bit of rain. I did manage to take loads of flower photo's and after a lot searching and a lot of searching we fond a great place to paint a small snap shot of the gardens. I wanted to capture the blue bells and shrubs that were there and this is what I did, I hope that you like this small painting, and will leave a comment on this.

Art class update
Well, I have had 2 classes since I came back from my holiday and thought you would like to see what I have been working on. In class we have been concentrating on flowers, and its be very challenging, I didn't realise how complex flowers are in there design and colour. I hope that now with the wonderful colours of flowers I will over come my colour worries, and fill my paintings with colour. I have decided to use my hard back watercolour book for class so that I can keep all the practice work in one place.
If you look to the left there is a picture of the shrew Toby brought into the house this morning. We kept him for a short while to help him get over the shock then we let him go. Let me know what you think of the practice work.

What a wally
Well, I have just realised that in my last post on the completed abstract parrot I had posted the work in progress photo instead of the completed one. I think my brain is in melt down with all these new ideas. So here is the finished painting for your approval, let me know what you think of her, I also think its better that she is on a perch gives her something to stand on. I have also had a lesson with my friend Caroline on how to use my pastels, we were going to work with a flower, in this case a tulip, she then showed a demonstration of drawing one and then I went on to do one myself, and as you can see my first attempt was successful. I know now that all I have to do is practise more and then I will get better still and then be able to attempt more complex subjects.
