When I first started drawing, and painting, I had to understand the meaning of tone, to me it was a mystry. Now I am becoming more familiar with it. Now as you can see I am becoming familiar with the concept. Al though I am finding it hard to translate into pastel, I have the picture in mind, and then when it come to putting it into colour it all goes wrong, I can do it in watercolour and pencil, and coloured pencil, with pastel and seem to go wrong, it just doesn't look how I think it should. I have been trying today, and came up with a meaning less mess of a picture, and that is so frustrating.
I have been trying to work on a sunset, but it isn't working, it just looks awful. Will I ever get to producing a proper understandable picture. I will not stop trying, I will succed with them, I just have to take my time to understand it. I have decided that to understand tone, I need to first understand the basics of it, how to construct pencil studies in tone, then move on to pastel studies in basic tones. One day I will understand the concept of pastels and tone, and then I will put a picture together.
