When I am out with my husband, he has told me that I am slowly going mad! I think its because he is a non-artist, if I see something like a building or a scene I look at through my artists eye, I think about colours, tones and composition.
I don't know if this is true of other artists, but thinking like that helps to inspire me, although I don't get stuck for ideas when it comes to drawing. I have the good fortune to be able to concentrate on my art most of the time, and maybe thats why I have improved so much, but I have still to get over the fear of going out and drawing in the big wide world.
I often wonder if other artists go through this thought process, or is it just me going slowly nuts.

no, you are not going nuts! That is exactly how some see the world. Sometimes when I walk past a window, I notice the sun shining on it and the shade of the outside building reflecting on it..and all this creating a beautiful shade of colour and texture. Best of luck in your artistic practices!
